GENEVA. The Court of Arbitration for Sport suspended Brazilian striker Dodo for two years for testing positive for amphetamines.

GENEVA. The Court of Arbitration for Sport suspended Brazilian striker Dodo for two years for testing positive for amphetamines.

The Lausanne-based CAS said in a statement that it upheld the appeals by football's world governing body FIFA and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) after Dodo had been exonerated by a Brazilian probe.

Dodo, 34, will now be suspended for a two-year period which runs until November 7, 2009 to take into account the time he has already been suspended, CAS said.

He tested positive for fenproprex after a drugs test on June 14 2007 after a match between his then-side Botafogo and fellow Rio team Vasco da Gama, but claimed that the caffeine capsules he used had been contaminated.

Brazil's highest sports court had previously cleared him of doping.
