PANAMA. Panama was the second country in the world to give an isolated sample of the A/H1N1 virus to the World Health Organization WHO and the PanAmerican Health Organization.

The isolation of the virus is a very important step to know the development of the illness and take the scientists closer to developing a vaccine.

The virus was isolated by the Gorgas Institute in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.

So far there have been 65 confirmed cases of the A/H1N1 cases in the country and have a dozen schools have been closed in order to disinfect the classrooms.

The majority of the people affected are under the age of 15.

There have not been any fatalities and the majority of the patients are at home.
