PANAMA. Drug trafficking and terrorism are inseparable and that is the reason why Colombia is asking the countries in the region and the international community to co-operate in fighting this plague, said the Colombian president Alvaro Uribe during a brief visit to Panama.

The Colombian head of state said that with determination and persistence, Colombia will try to eradicate that problem, bearing in mind that during the last few years a lot of progress has been made.

Uribe came to Panama to give a speech at the Executive Enterprises Association annual conference and inaugurate the bi-national electricity company, Interconexion Electrica Colombia-Panama.

The company will build a transmission line that will send electricity 300 MW to the sub-stations of Cerromatoso in Colombia and the Panama II in Panama, with the possibility of increasing the capacity in the future.
