Panama Star PANAMA. Like Mark Twain who famously said that reports of his death were premature, presidential candidate Balbina Herrera has vigorously denied rumors that she is abandoning her tilt at the title.
“I’m not stepping down, this is not a game for me. I am the candidate and will be until election day” she said.
She was speaking at Manolo’s restaurant following a TV report that she was stepping aside leaving her vice-presidential running mate, Juan Carlos Navarro to continue the race.
She placed the blame for the rumors on her opponent Ricardo Martinelli, and countered with a thinly veiled reference to rumors about his health.
“I am not bipolar, and with all the respect that people with this affliction deserve, I don’t take tafil,” she said. Tafil is a prescription drug with calming effects.
