Panama Star The Attorney General, Ana Matilde Gomez has denied that the abductions have anything to do with FARC.
The Colombian Defense Minister, Juan Manuel Santos said that the Colombian Revolutionary Armed Forces FARC (Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia) have carried out abductions in Ecuador, Venezuela and Panama to finance their operations.
According to Santos the increase of these kidnappings in the border zones are due to the bad financial situation that the guerrilla group is suffering, which is so broke it cannot pay its debts.
